Nymans
DESCRIPTION: Nymans... Nymans has grown into one of the great gardens of the Sussex Weald, thanks to three generations of the Messel family. 1890-1915 Ludwig Messel laid out the framework of open-air rooms, and introduced rare magnolias and hybrid rhododendrons. 1915-53 Leonard and Maud Messel rebuilt the house in medieval style and planted more exotics and old roses. 1953-92 Their daughter Anne Rosse, continued to enrich the garden after it was given to the National Trust in 1953.
